"When you die, if you get a choice between regular heaven or pie heaven, choose pie heaven. If might be a trick, but if not, mmmmm, boy!"
-Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy
Since I am hosting my family for Thanksgiving this year, I decided to try making my own pies from scratch. I had never made a pie crust before today. I was very nervous.
Miraculously, it worked! Apparently the trick is using really cold butter and water. I made two pies, a pumpkin and a pecan. Here's the pecan before it went into the oven:
And here they both are after coming out of the oven:
I hope they taste good! For the record, I'm choosing "pie heaven." Happy Thanksgiving!

Holy smokes that pecan pie looks to die for! I am impressed. Tyler loves making the Thanksgiving pies from scratch so he was doing the same thing last night. I am happy to let him do it. Hope you are having a great time with your fam and that the pies tasted as good as they looked.
the pie crust is the hardest part! Martha Stewart would have been proud :)
YUMMMMYYY! You are such a good cook, I can't believe you would ever be nervous starting a new cooking project. I bet they were awesome!
You're amazing, can I come??? :) I miss your food... (sigh)
Dang those pies look good! How are you so talented with the kitchen? I absolutely envy people who can cook. How did they taste? Are you ever going to come down to St. George and visit me? Stella would love to have a playdate with Addy!
The pumpking was so delicious! The best I've ever had. You might just have to make another for Christmas. And who made the whipped cream? Man it was great!

I will dream about that pecan pie for years to come. All of you who just saw the picture have no idea how good it tasted. And I, too, wish I had the talent (or patience) to make a pie like that. MMMMMMMMMM!
