An Attitude of Gratitude, #1

One of my goals for this year is to think often of the things I am grateful for. I believe that those who are grateful are happier with their lives than those who choose to dwell on the negative. I like this quote from Bonnie Parkin: "Gratitude requires awareness and effort, not only to feel it but to express it." Every Monday I am going to write down (or post on the blog) what I have been grateful for the previous week, sort of a gratitude journal of sorts.

Here is what I am grateful for today (pictures to be added soon!):

1. It snowed last night and is a beautiful Winter Wonderland outside.

2. Addyson is a content, easy baby. She has started smiling so big and so often and it just melts my heart. I am so glad I have her!

3. I love my new calling as Primary Secretary. We had a Presidency meeting this morning and I am so glad I get to work with the other women in the Presidency. They are all people I have wanted to know better...and now I get that chance!

4. Brandon works so I can stay at home with my little monkey. He never complains about his long hours or the stress of his job.

5. I have a comfortable, soft, cozy bed that I adore!

6. I have the greatest neighbors. My next door neighbor, Lani, brought over a basket full of lunch the day we moved in and has been so thoughtful, caring and helpful ever since. She offered to babysit Addyson this weekend so Brandon and I can go on a date alone (our first since she was born). Yeah!

Thomas S. Monson said, "We can lift ourselves, and others as well, when we refuse to remain in the realm of negative thought and cultivate within our hearts an attitude of gratitude."

I am grateful that I have a warm bed to sleep in and that my kids let me sleep in until 8 AM.

Your neighbor sounds really nice. We'll have to chat about primary sometime. I am grateful that I get to stay home and not work, and that I can eat Oreos all day long for another few weeks!

I am so grateful to live in Arizona today. My kids and I just spent 3 hours playing outside in the glorious sunshine.

And my friend gave me the cutest Valentine 3 section serving bowl from Target for my birthday!
