Baby Couture and Blog Giveaway!

My sister-in-law Emily is getting married this June. Her wedding colors are red and black. Of late, I was given some news which sent me into semi-panic mode. I was told that she wanted Addyson and me both to wear red dresses for the reception. We are not going to be in a line, and I am not a bridesmaid--she just wants us to match for the family pictures. Seeing as how it is now Spring, this poses a bit of a problem. There are no red dresses to be found in any stores! It is practically impossible to find myself a decent, modest, semi-formal dress in ANY color during any season. Finding a red one in Spring (that is also flattering to my post-baby shape) is going to be a Herculean task. I hope I'm up to the challenge.

However, I did a search online for something for Addy to wear. I was pleasantly surprised to find there are a bunch of websites that offer semi-formal baby dresses in a variety of colors and styles. I figure I can take some creative license as long as I stick to either red or black, seeing as how I was given short notice in the off season.

Here are my favorites.

Dress 1:

No, it's not all red, but I love the polka dots! Doesn't it look sort of summery, too? (It also comes in black polka dots and bow.)

Dress 2:

Classic, right? I'm worried it is too wintery for summer.

Dress 3:

The sash comes in any color (red, black?) and I think the rose is a nice touch.

Dress 4:

I love the pattern on the bottom. Is it too much black? Plus, no red.

Please leave me a comment and let me know which dress you like best, or if you don't like any of them. I will put all of your names in a bowl and draw one out randomly to be the WINNER of a fun package in the mail from me (it may include a children's book, some treats and some of my favorite beauty products). I will draw the winner on April 12!

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR INPUT! GOOD LUCK!

I saw your blog on Tawnie's blog and thought I would take a peek. You are darling, and I love that you paid for the people behind you at McDonalds, how thoughtful! It was fun to learn more about you from your 100 list, and I was suprised by how much we had in common. Motherhood really is wonderful! By the way I like the first dress the best.

Grandma chooses #1, but it was a hard choice!

I like #3 because it is classic and I don't think you will have to worry about what the bride thinks. #1 is right up there too but I lean more to 3. #1 seems a little more spring like and fun.

Have you tried Macy's for little girl dresses? I was just there and believe I saw some red dresses.

I am all about #1. I think the polka dots are adorable :)

Definately #1! So cute. I also like #4 a lot but for a summer wedding I would go with #1. There is a really cute store here called curdznwhey that sells adorable special occasion dresses for little girls and babies for about 40$ a dress. I don't know if there website is up and running yet.

Hi Nikole,
Thanks for you kind words on my last post- tough times around here.
I love them all- really- but I think the second one (though it's beautiful) I agree- too wintery. First is fun and flirty. Love the classy 3rd and the 4th is probably my favorite.
Did that help at all? Probably not. I really don't think you can go wrong with any of them. I'm sure your baby girl will look good in anything anyway! :)

Ok, first, I don't need to win anything to give my input:) I'm told I do that too much for free anyway! Ha!

So here's my thoughts...

Dress #1: LOVE IT and would buy it wedding or not! Simply because it can go with a wedding, church, or just some fun summer outtings and pictures

Dress #2: My first thought was "Christmas". It would work with the colors for the wedding, but when else would you use this? (especially since you are using your own money to buy it right??) It looks way too hot and dark to use for the summer.

Dress #3 Beautiful! This definitely could be used for a wedding since majority of the dress is white with just the color accents. If everyone in the wedding picture is only wearing red and black, this might "pop" out a bit if you don't mind that. Is the wedding strictly red and black?? (besides the white wedding dress)

Dress #4 SOOO very cute and I would want to buy that one too. I guess with this one, if the bride to be is picky about making sure everyone has atleast some red I wouldn't buy it. Wedding days are the only day that a woman can be as picky as she wants right?:)

So here's what I would do...buy #1 because I wanted to (depending on the price of course) but probably go with #3 for the wedding because it looks a little more on the "fancy" side compared to just dang cute like #1.

Hope this helps, and that it made sense. Good luck!! I don't envy you trying to find a dress for yourself either. I agree, that would be SO hard in the spring to find that color!

I am in love with Dress #1. I absolutely adore the polka dots. The other dresses are cute too but for some reason I think Dress #1 has it all and would work great for the wedding ... Hope that helps, good luck on your dress search, finding a good modest dress these days is a little difficult!

For sure #1. All those dresses were amazing, and if it wasn't a spring/summer wedding I would have to choose #4 b/c that dress is just out of this world. But since it's summer I have to say #1. It doesn't have black, but if everyone else is wearing red and black, that white dress will just help your adorable little one to stand out. TOO CUTE! And happy hunting best of luck on the dress for you!!!

I like the 1st one the best, with the polka dots, but the last one that's black and white is super cute also!

I think #1 is the most springlike. Cute.
As for you, why don't you wear black? For two reasons: more availability and more flattering. Plus, you can ALWAYS use a black dress in your closet. You should get someone else to wear a black dress too, so you're not the only one.
For my August wedding, I learned that I should have chosen more popular spring/summer colors because my colors were so hard to find during that time of year. If only I had gotten married in December, then maybe it would've been easier to find. (I chose dark plum, creme, and champagne)
Good luck!!

I love #2--I don't care what season. Could you find some cute black strappy baby sandals to go with it?

After that, I love the polka dots. Although light baby skin and mainly white dresses don't photograph super well. (I know because my kids wore white dresses in December at Brett's wedding.)

Fatty, all of those dresses are cute, but my two fav's are #1 and #3. I would do either one of those. I really like 3 .. I would get it for Ashtyn. She will look lovely in any one you pick!

Greetings! I really like the third dress. I would go with the black sash because the rose is red and stands out! If you choose a red sash, can you get a white rose!? I think this dress looks the most girlish, without looking too grown up. Thanks,Cindi

I would pick number one. Beautiful and great for spring.

I like number four also; very sophisticated.

Hi, I happened to stumble upon your cute blog! :) I love those dresses! They're all really cute. I like #1 and #3 the most. #4 is nice but there's no red on it.

#1 looks fun and can be worn for other casual events.
#3 looks formal and can be worn for other special occasions.

Hope this helps :)

I like dress #3 alot as well. I love the red rose, it adds personality to the dress.

I wish they had dresses for us adults that make us just as happy. One day, someone will come up with a dress that we all love!
